Anyone done a SYNC upgrade?

Dunno if anyone here has upgraded the SYNC system in their Corsair, either from SYNC 3 to SYNC 4, or just updated the existing system for better performance. I've been hearing mixed info about whether an upgrade to SYNC 4 is even possible on certain model years, especially since it ties into hardware differences like the screen and processor. But even within SYNC 3, I've noticed some owners talking about software updates improving responsiveness, navigation, or wireless Apple CarPlay.
If you've done an upgrade, hardware or software, how did it go? was it DIY, dealer only, or something, did it actually improve anything noticeable?
